Nathan Hale died on September 22, 1776, in New York City. Hale was born on June 6, 1755, in Connecticut.

Hale was a soldier during the American Revolution for the Continental Army. He served as Captain in the Army after his time in service in Boston.

Hale was educated at Yale University and spent time as a school teacher before the war. He volunteered to go to New York City to gather intelligence for the Continental Army where he was captured by the British. Hale was tried for espionage and then sentenced to hang. He is the state hero of Connecticut.
