The National Do Not Call Registry is run by the Federal Trade Commission, which is an organization operated by the U.S. government. Numbers listed on this registry must be on it for 31 days before telemarketing calls cease.
As of 2015, the National Do Not Call Registry can be used to register both home and mobile numbers at no cost to the owner of the telephone number. Any telemarketing calls that are made to a registered number can be used to file a complaint through the website. The official website also provides a link for sellers and telemarketers to access the registry.
