What new type of birth control did Margaret Sanger create?

Margaret Sanger was the legendary force and collaborator behind the development and FDA approval of the birth control pill Enovid. Enovid was the first oral contraceptive, approved in 1960, according to PBS.

Sanger was an activist for the legalization of birth control and worked in concert with medical expert Gregory Pincus and sponsor Katharine McCormick on the development of Enovid. PBS chronicles that Sanger had always longed to provide birth control that was safe and effective to the general population, and she realized her dream when Enovid came to market. In 1965, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that contraception was a constitutional right, furthering Sanger's dream.
