What is a non-theistic religion?

A non-theistic religion is a belief system that does not involve belief in a god or multiple gods. These religions are often still concerned with spirituality and other common features of major religions, but they do not worship or revere omnipotent figures.

While most religions are theistic, the most prominent non-theistic religion is Buddhism, which worships Buddha not as a god, but as a teacher. Within religions such as Christianity or Hinduism, there are forms of belief that do not involve worshiping God and therefore are considered non-theistic. New forms of spirituality, such as Ethical Humanism, also have many similarities with non-theistic religions.
