Are there any nonexplosive volcanoes?

Many volcanoes erupt without an explosion. These volcanoes are called nonexplosive volcanoes because the lava flows fluidly from the mountain rather than exploding into the air with rocks and ash.
Examples of nonexplosive volcanoes can be found on the ocean floor. The mountain chain that formed Hawaii, known as the Hawaii hot spot, contains 107 nonexplosive volcanoes. This type of volcano occurs when there is a sufficiently low amount of gas in the rising magma. This magma allows gases to escape to the surface, reducing the amount of gas available to cause an explosion. The type of magma exuded by nonexplosive volcanoes is called basalt lava.
