As of May 2015, area code 349 is unassigned. Calls that appear to be coming from this area code are likely coming from a telemarketer or scammer that is "spoofing" its actual phone number.

Spoofing is the process of concealing the actual incoming phone number from caller ID units. The FCC prohibits caller ID spoofing, and perpetrators can be fined up to $10,000. It is legal for law enforcement agencies and courts to manipulate caller ID numbers under certain circumstances, however. A telemarketers is required to display its actual phone number or the phone number of the seller it is representing when calling.
