Is Novolin the same as Novolog?

Novolin is not the same as Novolog; however, it is a different type of insulin and the two have different effective times. Novolin is a regular, short to intermediate acting insulin, and Novolog is a very fast acting insulin.

These two types of insulin both work to lower blood glucose levels in diabetics, but they differ in that they begin to work at different times, peak at different points and last for different amounts of time. The two are not the same drug and should not be substituted for each other, as they are used in different situations as prescribed by a doctor.
