There are two locations in the world that go by the name of Oak Island. One is an actual island in Nova Scotia, and the other is a town in North Carolina.

Oak Island, North Carolina, is a small coastal town in Brunswick County. As of 2003, its population was 7,216. It is promoted as a tourist and beach town, boasting 65 beach access points as well as numerous boat launches, piers and fishing docks.

Oak Island is privately owned and comprises 140 acres on the south coast of Nova Scotia. It is infamous for its buried treasure site dubbed "The Money Pit," although no one has ever found money or treasure there.
