Oatmeal is considered to be soluble fiber and, as reported by Web MD, is considered healthy. Fiber is a necessary part of a healthy diet.
While the average American reports only receiving approximately 15 grams of fiber in their diet per day, Web MD states that women under the age of 50 should be getting 25 grams of fiber per day, while men under the age of 50 should be aiming for 30-38 grams of fiber in their daily diet. Oatmeal is a good source of fiber and delays the emptying of the stomach, prolonging the sensation of being full.
