Does Obamacare include dental coverage?

Dental insurance is not among the services required under Obamacare. Obamacare is a term for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 that mandates people carry health insurance, which may or may not include dental coverage.

The legislation created a program that subsidizes costs of insurance based on income levels. The subsidies are designed to pay part or all of the cost of insurance for low-income people. The act requires that health insurance plans comply with specific coverage requirements. Included in the requirements are outpatient care, emergency room services, hospitalization, preventative care with wellness visits and chronic disease management. Maternity and newborn care, mental and behavioral health treatment, prescription drugs, lab tests, pediatric care, and services and devices to help people with injuries, disabilities and chronic conditions are also covered features.
