What is the official height of cricket stumps?

The Laws of Cricket require cricket stumps to measure 28 inches in height. In a cricket match, stumps are the three vertical posts supporting the two bails on the wicket, which is placed at each end of the 22-yard 'pitch' of the field of play.
The three stumps are known as the middle stump, off stump and leg stump, relative to the batsman. The distance between the two outside stumps -the off stump and leg stump- must be exactly 9 inches. In the sport, the bowler aims to get the ball past the batsman by hitting the stumps, causing the batsman to be out.
