Is oil a renewable resource?

Oil is not a renewable resource because it is a fossil fuel. It takes earth millions of years to produce fossil fuels.

The time involved in producing a fuel source is the determining factor in deciding if it is non-renewable or renewable. To be considered renewable, energy sources must come from natural resources which are constantly replenished, and sustainably produced. A fuel source must be able to be reproduced within an average human lifespan, which is why oil is non-renewable. While it is produced by earth from natural things, it takes millions of years to produce oil, while the average human lifespan is less than a century.
