Are Omnitrition drops safe to use?

Omnitrition drops used as part of the human chorionic gonadotropin diet are not considered safe. This is evidenced by the Food and Drug Administration's stance on them, which "has advised consumers to steer clear of over-the-counter weight-loss products that contain HCG," according to Mayo Clinic. HCG is safe to consume if prescribed by a doctor to treat fertility issues, but Omnitrition is utilized as part of a diet regimen that recommends substantially restricting calories.
HCG is a hormone produced by the body during a woman's pregnancy. As part of the Omnitrition HCG diet, it is used to supposedly reset a person's metabolism as they consume about 500 calories a day for 8 weeks.
