Making a homemade weed killer with bleach requires combining some common household products with water. You need a large pot, a wooden spoon, water, salt, liquid dish soap, a spray bottle, a bucket, rubber gloves and bleach to make this herbicide. You should be finished with this project in about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Fill a large pot with water
Add salt to the water, and bring the water to a boil. Use 1 cup of salt for every 2 cups of water. The salt is important because it kills weeds and leaves the area unsuitable for future plant life.
- Add liquid dish soap
Let the water cool after boiling, then add 1 tablespoon of dish soap for every gallon of water. The dish soap makes the weed-killing solution much stickier, so it will stay on the plants.
- Add bleach
Pour the mixture into a large bucket, and put on rubber gloves. Add the bleach to the mixture. There is no limit to the amount of bleach you can add - the more bleach, the faster the weeds will die. Be careful not to spill the mixture on your clothes or skin when adding the bleach. Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon.
- Pour the solution into a spray bottle
Once the solution is inside the bottle, you can use it to kill weeds. For the best results, spray on a warm, dry day with little wind.
