The amount of caffeine in oolong tea is fairly low compared to black tea. The amount of caffeine varies depending on how long you brew or steep the tea, as well as the temperature of the water. An 8-ounce cup of oolong tea can contain 50 to 75 milligrams of caffeine, compared to 35 to 70 milligrams in green tea or 60 to 90 milligrams in black tea. Tea steeped for three minutes has a lower amount of caffeine than tea that is steeped for the normal five minutes.
