What are organic shapes in art?

Organic shapes in art refers to shapes that have less well-defined edges as opposed to geometric shapes. They are generally shapes that are unpredictable and flowing.
A shape is one of the seven elements of art and is an enclosed space defined by boundaries. These boundaries may be lines, colors or textures. Geometric shapes have perfect edges, precise lines and mathematically consistent curves. Organic shapes lack these consistent edges, lines and curves and are more associated with objects in nature, such as clouds, flowers, animals, the ocean and the sky. Organic shapes can sometimes be referred to as free-form shapes and often lack commonly associated names.
