How do you find out who is in the Andersonville prison?

The Andersonville prison has had no inmates since the 19th century. During the Civil War, the facility held more than 45,000 Union soldiers, almost 13,000 of whom died during their incarceration. Also known as the Camp Sumter military prison, it was one of the largest Confederate prison camps.

Located near Americus, Georgia, Andersonville prison operated from February 1864 till the war ended in April 1865. Conditions at the prison were horrible, and prisoners died from disease, malnutrition, poor sanitation, overcrowding and exposure. The prison and nearby cemetery are part of the National Park Service and stand as a memorial to all of the nation's prisoners of war through the years.
