Most computers display the version of Windows they are running at start up. Watch the computer after switching it on. The display screen usually appears a few seconds after the computer is turned on.

It's also possible to find out the version of Windows a computer is running without turning it off and on again. Click the Windows button in the lower left corner of the screen, then select the Run option from the menu. When the text box appears, type in "winver" and press Enter. A box appears with the version of Windows running on the computer as well as associated licensing information.
