What is Oxalis Regnellii commonly called?

Oxalis regnellii, also called Oxalis triangularis, is more commonly referred to as the love plant, purple wood sorrel and purple shamrock. It is a common ornamental house plant that is native to Brazil.

Oxalis regnellii has dark-purple, triangular leaflets that fold up at night. It also produces small clusters of pinkish-white flowers. The plant may grow as tall as 12 inches high and flourishes the most in moist and lightly shaded soil. The plant contains oxalic acid, a defense mechanism that wards herbivores from eating it. However, if Oxalis regnellii is ingested, it may cause long-term nutritional deficiencies and kidney stones.
