Pappardelle is a type of pasta that resembles a ribbon that is flat and wide. The width of these noodles is approximately 5/8 of an inch. These noodles can have either straight or rippled edges.
The name for this pasta can be translated to "gobble down." If these noodles are not available in a supermarket, then a possible substitute can be tagliatelle. However, tagliatelle is a little narrower. Another option is to make pappardelle pasta from scratch. The Bon Appetit website has a recipe for homemade pappardelle
Dried or fresh pappardelle noodles go well with a variety of sauces. Some typical recipes that can be made with this pasta are pappardelle with hot sausage sauce and pappardelle with a ragu sauce.
