According to About.com, a parasagittal plane is a sagittal plane, or lateral line, running through a body that divides the body into left and right regions of unequal parts. A median, or midsagittal, plane is a sagittal plane that divides a body into equal left and right parts.
A coronal plane, or frontal plane, goes through the center of a body and divides it into posterior, or back, regions and anterior, or front, regions. A transverse plane runs through a body's midsection as a horizontal plane and divides it into inferior, or lower, regions and superior, or upper, regions, according to About.com. Parasagittal plane is an anatomical directional term used in anatomy.
