Where is parsley grown?

Parsley is a Mediterranean plant and grows there as a biennial, but due to cold winters in the United States, it is an annual that grows best in temperature zones 5 through 9 (minimum temperatures between 0 and 30 degrees Fahrenheit). There are two varieties: curly leaf and flat-leaf.
Parsley grows best in nutrient-rich soil that is moist and drains well. Plants thrive in a location with 6 to 8 hours of sun as well as shade. Parsley thrives indoors when placed in pots that contain holes for good drainage and located in a place that receives bright light. Parsley is a slow-growing plant, but once it is established, snipping the parsley from the stems encourages the plant to produce new growth.
