What is a passion fruit plant?
By Forinfos - 02/07/2025 - 0 comments
Passion fruit grows on the plant Passiflora edulis, and though grown commercially worldwide, it is a flowering vine that is native to tropical regions. The passion fruit vine grows up to 20 feet annually and lives up to 7 years, producing fragrant purple and white flowers and round, aromatic fruits.
Multiple varieties of the passion fruit vine exist, each of which produces a distinctly different fruit. The flavicarpa variety produces a golden acidic fruit the size of a grapefruit, while the edulis variety offers a purple, rich-tasting fruit the size of a lemon. The flesh is either yellow or white and is sweet and seedy in all varieties.
