What does PBS stand for?

PBS stands for Public Broadcasting Service. It is a private nonprofit American broadcasting and TV program distributor, with its headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. Respondents in a 2009 GfK Roper poll considered it to be the most trusted institution in the United States and the best choice for children's programs.

PBS has been on the air since 1970; as of 2015, Paula Kerger is its president and CEO. It has 356 member TV stations and reaches over 115 million people every month. Educational institutions own most of its stations. Teachers use PBS for digital content and services for classroom activities because it inspires learning in children.
