Pearl Harbor is located on the island of Oahu in the state of Hawaii, within United States of America. It lies in the Pacific Ocean halfway between the mainland of the United States and Japan. It is a lagoon to the west of the state's capital, Honolulu.

Pearl Harbor is the headquarters of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. On Dec 7, 1941, Japanese planes bombarded Pearl Harbor and destroyed the base. This was a decisive moment in World War II, as 1,177 American soldiers lost their lives, leading to America's entry into the war. As of 2014, Pearl Harbor is the most-visited location on the island of Oahu.
