What do people wear to Mardi Gras?

In addition to the tradition of wearing costumes, another fun tradition for Mardi Gras is to catch the beads, stuffed animals and other items that are thrown onto the street by those who are riding on floats in the various parades held during the Mardi Gras season.

The city of New Orleans recommends that visitors bring cameras to capture the day's festivities. However, they advise against bringing an expensive camera due to the large crowds and busy streets.
