What are permanent eyebrows?

Permanent eyebrows are a type of cosmetic enhancement created using a needle to place granules of pigment underneath the skin. The process is defined as micropigmentation, similar to a tattoo.
The Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals describes the entire procedure for creating permanent eyebrows on its website. Technicians typically ask the individual to either draw in eyebrows as desired, or to bring a photo for reference. The area is cleaned and an anesthetic applied, and once it has taken effect a sterilized needle is used to create the permanent eyebrows. There is typically another visit one to two months later to check healing and determine the need for additional work.
