Teacup Yorkshire terriers, also called Yorkies, weigh an average of 3 to 4 pounds and stand 6 to 7 inches tall. They are approximately four pounds less than an average-sized Yorkie, which weighs about seven pounds.
Teacup Yorkies are bred with the runt of a Yorkshire terrier litter to achieve their tiny stature. Due to this small size, they often have health issues, such as seizures, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, heart disease, hypoglycemia and fontanels. Teacup Yorkies also have the standard Yorkshire terrier risks, including eye infections, poor digestion, bronchitis and early tooth decay. Teacup Yorkies are friendly and energetic, enjoying daily walks and play. Teacup Yorkies get overly energetic if they do not get sufficient exercise throughout the day.
