Bullfrog tadpoles eat algae, aquatic insects and other plant life below or on the water's surface. Bullfrogs in captivity can eat specially made pellet or flake food with all the necessary nutrients for growth.

Adult bullfrogs can lay up to 20,000 eggs once a year. The eggs hatch into tadpoles, which can grow up to 6 inches long during a two-year period before morphing into adults.

The adults remain around a body of water their whole lives. They hide among tall grasses near the water's edge, waiting for prey to ambush. During adulthood, bullfrogs are nocturnal and eat small reptiles and birds, baby mammals, insects, worms, small fish and even other frogs.
