What are some examples of DSH (domestic shorthair) cat breeds?

Tuxedo and calico are two examples of domestic short-haired cats. Domestic short-hairs are mixed-breed cats that are not classified according to any other recognized breeds. Breeding in a range of solid colors, stripes and swirls, they are commonly referred to by their color patterns.

Domestic short-haired cats are often called house cats, tabby cats or alley cats. Due to the differences in gene pools, their sizes and shapes vary according to region. American and European varieties are usually stouter, making them appear thick and heavy. Asian varieties take on more of a streamlined appearance, as seen in Tonkinese and Siamese cats.
