How do you kill silverfish?

Silverfish are vulnerable to chemical and natural methods of extermination. The natural remedies that drive silverfish away are lavender oil, cucumbers, the scent of organic citrus, sage, bay leaves, whole cloves and cedar bark shavings. Homemade traps using a jar, elastic, sugar, water and bread are also effective.

Chemical solutions to a silverfish problem include liquid pyrethrin, boric acid, mothballs and diatomaceous earth powder. Boric acid is toxic to other animals, so be careful. To prevent a silverfish infestation, reduce the humidity of nooks and crannies to 50 percent, because they prefer dark areas with 75 to 95 percent humidity.
