How much does it cost to adopt a chow puppy?

Adoption fees for chows are set by the individual rescue organizations, and as such are highly variable. The Chow Chow Club, Inc.'s Welfare Committee encourages shelters to set their fees at a rate of half the cost of buying a backyard-bred puppy of the breed in the local area.

Local rates for adopting a chow chow puppy are variable, but as of September 2015, the Chow Chow Rescue of Central New York’s rate is $300, while Texas Chow Chow Rescue asks adopters to pay $225 for pure chows, with reduced fees for cross breeds. Adoption fees tend to include costs for spaying and neutering, current vaccinations and tests for heartworm.
