A Permanent Fund Dividend application is a form submitted by Alaskan residents of one year or greater in order to apply for a distribution of the annual fund, according to Permanent Fund Dividend Division. Eligible residents receive an annual payment.
The Alaska Permanent Fund was established in 1976 as a part of a constitutional amendment, according to the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation. Comprised of a diversified portfolio of public and private assets, the fund was established as an investment on behalf of Alaskan residents, who receive a portion of the fund's returns each year. The original funds were mineral royalties, according to the Permanent Fund Dividend Division.
