Are pig ears bad for dogs?

Pig ears are not considered bad for dogs; however, they can be fattening and poor treat for dogs who have pancreatitis. Pig ears are also dangerous if swallowed in large bites; owners should always watch their dog consume pig ears for safety purposes.

Pig ears also might give dogs an upset stomach. Other toys that interest dogs and come with fewer possible side effects include plush toys, chew toys made out of hard rubber and organic bones that are not from the hooves, ribs and do not contain bone marrow. If an owner is worried about the dangers of playing with various toys, then the dog's veterinarian should be consulted.
