The services provided by the website Pinoy Ako were illegal. The site streamed several TV shows and movies which were copyrighted by the Philippine television network ABS-CBN.

Pinoy Ako has now been shut down as a result of the intellectual copyright violations the site committed. ABS-CBN partnered with Crime Stoppers to prevent Pinoy Ako from live streaming its content. ABS-CBN has filed a lawsuit against Pinoy Ako, along with 17 other sites, for a collective $12 million. This move is part of their campaign to fight against piracy and protect the rights of the content creators and members of their production team.
