When do pit bull puppies open their eyes?

Pit bull puppies are born blind and deaf, but their eyes begin to open at about two weeks of age. Their ears begin to open during the third week.

The America Pit Bull Terrier wants to please, according to the Dog Breed Info Center, but the breed needs proper socialization early in life in order to curb potential for aggression, especially with other animals. Initially bred for bull fighting, the pit bull was imported into the United States in the 1800s for use as farm dogs. They later became popular as "nanny dogs" because they were gentle with children. "Petey" the pup featured in "Little Rascals" was an American Pit Bull Terrier.
