When do you take a pit bull puppy home?
By Forinfos - 23/04/2025 - 0 comments
Most dogs of any breed, including pit bulls, are ready to leave their mothers and go to a new home when they are 8 weeks old. At that age, puppies are completely weaned and comfortable with other dogs, but are still quick to adapt to new social environments and experiences.
While 8-week-old puppies are usually ready to go to a new home, novice dog owners may be better off allowing an experienced breeder to do the work of teaching the puppy to adapt to living with humans and other pets. Ideally, the breeder or owner introduces the puppy to its future home, owners, other animals and living environment before the puppy is 12 weeks old. After this age, it becomes harder to get a dog used to new experiences.
