How do you plant tulips?

To plant a tulip, bury the bulb in a nursery pot of moist soil, seal it in a plastic bag, refrigerate the tulip until it sprouts, and then plant it outside. This process takes several weeks and requires soil, water, a plastic bag, a pot, a refrigerator and a trowel.

1. Prepare the pot

   Fill a nursery pot with moist soil, and saturate it with water.

2. Bury the bulb

   Bury the bulb in the soil with the pointy end facing towards the sky.

3. Refrigerate the bulbs

   Put the pot in a plastic bag, seal it, and refrigerate it. Replenish its moisture every few days, and check for sprout development.

4. Move the pot outside

   When the bulb sprouts, remove the pot from the refrigerator and discard the bag. Set the pot in a sunny outdoor location. Check and water the soil regularly.

5. Plant the tulip

   When the soil temperature is at least 65 degrees Fahrenheit, gently pull the tulip out of the pot. Use a trowel to dig a hole in a sunny location. Make the hole twice as deep as the combined length of the bulb and its root system. Set the tulip in the hole, cover it with soil and water it until the top 6 inches of soil are saturated.
