What plants are in the phylum Bryophyta?
By Forinfos - 22/04/2025 - 0 comments
Plants in the phylum Bryophyta include mosses, hornworts and liverworts. Plants in this phylum have leaves and stems, and instead of roots they have rhizoids.
The Bryophyta phylum is split into three main classes, including the true mosses (Bryopsida), the lantern mosses (Andreaopsida) and the peat mosses (Sphagnopsida). Unlike ferns and flowering plants, Bryophytes have no vascular system to transport water.
Instead of making seeds, these plants have leaves that release spores. Spores can travel by water and create new mosses in new places.
Mosses are able to survive even if they become dried out. They revive and resume growing when they get wet again.
