Plasma is found in the stars and in the space between them. It is the most common form of matter and makes up as much as 99.9 percent of the universe.
Plasma has cool to hot temperatures and is made up of a collection of free-moving electrons and ions. To make plasma, energy is used to strip electrons from atoms. This energy can be in thermal, electrical or light forms. If there is not enough power to sustain the plasma, it will return to a neutral gas. It can be moved by electrical and magnetic fields, which allows it to be applied and controlled.
