What is Pluto's density?

By Forinfos - 02/03/2025 - 0 comments

The density of Pluto is 2.050 grams per cubic meter. This makes this dwarf planet a little more than a third as dense as Earth.

Pluto is smaller than Earth's moon. This small size coupled with its low density makes Pluto about one-sixth as massive as the moon. It is a rocky planet with a surface that is frozen most of the time. However, when Pluto comes closest to the sun the ice on the surface thaws, turns to vapor and gives the planet the thinnest of atmospheres. Pluto also rotates on its side and rotates backwards. It is probably too small and slow to have a magnetic field.
