When was poet Kabir Das born?

There is much conjecture regarding the birth year of poet Kabir Das, but 1398 or 1440 A.D. are the most likely years of his birth. According to Islamic tradition, the name "Kabir Das" means "The Great."

Poet Kabir Das is commonly referred to as a saint by members of the Kabir Panth religious community. Kabir Das contributed a great deal to the Guru Granth Sahib. Although there is very little information regarding his life, Das is seen as a contemporary religious teacher during that era. If he was born at the turn of the 15th century, then it is possible that he lived up to 120 years of age.
