Who makes Pontiac cars?

General Motors manufactured the Pontiac line until Dec. 2009. The Pontiac Buggy Company, was founded by Edward M. Murphy, and the buggy was manufactured from 1893 through to 1906 in Pontiac, Michigan.

Murphy incorporated the Oakland Motor Company in 1907, and by 1932 General Motors, founded by William Durant in 1906, obtained the Oakland Motor Car Company, and the division was renamed the Pontiac Motor Company. By 1932 GM held the Buick Motor Company, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, and the German manufacturer Opel, that began producing sewing machines in 1862. Arguably the most notable Pontiac is the 1957 Bonneville and the 1964 Gran Turismo Omologato.
