When does postage price increase?

The United States Postal Service regularly raises rates to account for inflation and increased costs, having raised it 20 times during the 20th century. Since 2006, the USPS has raised the rate for all types of mail almost every year.

The USPS typically announces a planned rate increase no more than six months in advance. From 2012 to 2014, the USPS increased rates every January. In 2007, the USPS released the first Forever stamps. Forever stamps cost the same as regular stamps but do not have a set denomination. Instead, they increase with USPS increases so that they are always sufficient for mailing a standard letter.
