Do praying mantises bite?
By Forinfos - 07/03/2025 - 0 comments
A praying mantis can grab onto skin and bite, but it is rare for it to do so. These insects may mistake a finger or any other small part of the body for prey, but they do not usually bite in defense unless threatened.
If a praying mantis feels threatened, it can hiss, stand up and fan its wings, which are all signs that the praying mantis is preparing to bite or use its forelegs to strike. While a bite from a praying mantis can be painful, there is little need to worry because it is not poisonous and does not carry diseases.
