By Forinfos - 20/03/2025 - 0 comments
A utility locator is used mainly to identify and label underground public and private utility mains. It helps in preventing possible damages during excavation or other underground activities.
A utility locator is necessary to locate and trace the paths of wires, cables, pipes and conduit either buried underground or behind walls. They allow the user to mark routes and locations to save money in repair costs. Different types of locators are used for different materials. An electromagnetic locator with a transmitter and receiver is useful to locate metal pipes and cable, whereas for plastic and concrete pipes, other types of radiolocation or modern ground-penetrating radar are ideal.
