What are some problems that can occur with a stomach feeding tube?
By Forinfos - 06/08/2025 - 0 comments
Problems that may occur following placement of a feeding tube include infection, bleeding, the tube becoming blocked and the tube coming out, according to WebMD. Excess drainage surrounding the tube or the inability to take food through the tube are further complications that should be reported to a doctor immediately.
After a feeding tube is inserted, minor soreness in the abdomen is normal, notes WebMD. This discomfort should not exceed the pain associated with a pulled muscle. Feeding tubes can stay in place for several months to three years to help patients with difficulty swallowing or eating food by mouth.
