Processor speed is important because it determines how fast or slow the computer runs. The processor is the brain of the computer. It handles all the numerical calculations; therefore, if the calculation time is slow, the entire system's its overall performance gets affected.
Processor speed is measured in how many cycles it can perform in a given second. Therefore a high processor speed means that more instructions per second will be executed. Processor speed is important especially when performing graphics-intensive tasks such as video editing and gaming.
A high speed processor is able to run powerful programs without draining the system’s resources or shortening its lifespan.
