What are proper measurements for a horseshoe pit?
By Forinfos - 20/01/2026 - 0 comments
In a regulation horseshoe pit, the stakes are exactly 40 feet apart and placed in the center of a box that may vary in size. The minimum size allowed for the box is 31 inches wide by 43 inches long, and the largest size allowed is 36 by 72 inches.
For women, children and the elderly, a foul line exists at 27 feet from each stake and 37 feet from each stake for adult men. The rules allow stakes made of iron and soft steel that must stick out 14 to 15 inches above ground. Pitching platforms, placed on either side of the pits, are approximately 18 to 20.5 inches wide and 6 feet long.
