Salt can be clear, transparent, opaque or metallic. It can be sweet, savory, bitter, salty or sour in taste. Pure salt is completely free of odor.
Salts can be clear, orange, blue, green or black in color. Salts are crystals that have a very high melting point. Impure salts are those that have lost their salty taste. Sodium chloride is another name for table salt. The molecular formula for salt is NaCl. Table salt has a face-centered cubic crystal structure. Black salt, also called black lava salt, contains trace minerals that can be beneficial to health. Black salt can detoxify the body and is used in body scrubs and exfoliators.
